On to Plumbing and Rope Halters!

Yesterday Alyson and I fixed the ping pong table and cleaned out the covered patio area. Ping pong is a great way to just chill! Omw we have had sooo many laughs it is so fun!!

Today was a fairly hot day, the piggies were happy with all the scraps they got They have finally got names... Pinky, Babe, Ladies Man(aka ‘PIG’), Spot and Yorkie. J The chicks are all doing really well with their new hen all 23 of them! J

I had a couple of the nicest rides this morning, it warmed up so fast that I didn’t get to ride everyone I wanted to, will make up for it tomorrow. J Then we went into town to do some grocery shopping so we don’t starve and die! Lol, Another half pound lost! YAY!! Tehee! ^^)

We spend the rest of the day plumbing... LOL, fixing all the pipes etc. and putting in new fittings around the ranch... Yes another skill I have gained! J I am pretty much never going to have to hire a handy man or plumber or anyone like that... I’m just going to be doing it myself!! ^^)

The parts for the new barn were delivered today, so we have to lay a whole concrete floor and then put up the two story barn! J That should be eventful!! It is quite a nice shape barn so we will see how everything goes!

Oh yes, we have a new Calf! One of the cows had a new calf yesterday. It seems to be doing well. It was so funny we saw this black thing in the grass on the way home and Alyson sends me to go look, but now we know the cows around it are aggressive so she tells me to get ready to run... LoL, yeah run! Hehe, so I go up to the little bundle and its a new calf! At first we had to figure out who the mom was because none of them attacked me for some reason. J It was pretty awesome. It was Hilarious though, I tried to pick the calf up and it just flopped, not worried about me or anything, it was soo cute!

We bought a bunch of rope to make our own rope halters... Well, it is not something simple to do.... WoW, this was such a pain in the but to get right. Aly and I had both never made one, or looked at one in detail! I swear sometimes what you are doing just looks like spaghetti, seriously go have a look and try make one! Its a bit of a mission, but we made two perfect ones eventually, I already remember most parts of how to make it so its not to bad now... J

Then off to move K-Line again... Gaw! Haha, that freaking thing is soo heavy!! Anywho, Lots still happening as usual!! J Alive and Kicking!!

Working harder and its getting hotter...

The rest of yesterday was pretty good. We finished putting up the round pen and it went up pretty easily... See, this is where girls rule, we plan ahead. Lol, so the pen is actually a circle which is great! We had finished most of the horse stalls. It was so hot eventually at about 3:30 we decided we were going to lake Hogan. Yeah another lake... J So we had a pretty good time there, it was so nice to cool off. We spend a couple hours there and then came back home and had a chilled night. I got to bed a bit late last night but I’m not too tired.

We have decided on our training schedule, we have been so busy with things at the ranch I have only been concentrating on working G and Red! I can’t wait to take G to the next show!! :D Here it is, I am obviously going to wake up at 5 as usual and feed etc. then I am going to ride Honey, Happy, Breezy, work Spice in the round pen, then ride G and Red. In that order... I am in for a couple of tiring days this week with temperatures reaching 109... Hot! LOL, We will def be going to the lake a couple of afternoons!

This morning started great, it was not too hot which was great! The horses broke the water valve again... So we have to manually watch the water again. They are ALWAYS breaking them!! Hehe, they chew everything they can fit their moths around, like puppies!! I was on my after feeding I came back in for like 20mins to wait for the horses to finish eating and when I went out again to tack up it was waaay to hot to even think about riding! So tomorrow I am def waking up earlier to feed!!

We needed to do a feed run so went into Tractor Supply in Modesto to grab some feed and tools. Its always a huge chunk out of the day because its far to travel into town but anyway we got everything we wanted except Alfalfa. So we drove around for a while trying to find some but we couldn’t. Eventually on the way back home we found a guy with a small yard selling rye hay with clover. So its okay for now I guess. This guys has such a green thumb though, we got talking with him and he showed us his little garden, he grows everything! Plums, grapes, corn, pumpkin, squash, oranges, sweet potato and so much more! He also has live stock, he has a few goats, chickens and cattle. He says if he ever goes to a store it is for flour and salt, the rest he gets out of his ‘farm’ even though its not huge! It was awesome to see that!

We back home now, its hotter than hell and we have to finish up building those stalls. So I’m off for now!! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I’ve lost 11.5 pounds since I’ve been here! Claps for mee!! LOL

OMG a LAMA Family!!!! (Hard work, and it defiantly shows!)

Friday was quite an eventful day. Before Alyson had woken up I had already done the rounds of feeding everyone and I had ridden G. At 8 we started getting the trailer and boxes ready to take to the auction. J It was hilarious trying to catch the goats, i have bruises and scratches in weird places! We laughed our butts off!! :D We took the 2 goats and the large rooster to the sale.

Its so funny when Aly starts talking about something passionately or she really gets into a song, because she generally misses her turn and I have to correct her! LOL. She will just carry on driving... J So we book the critters in and have a look around at what we want to take home!

There was this lama family mom, dad, and baby! They were soooo cute, but Russ won’t let us get a lama L We had a look through all the live stock. We ended up taking home two dozen royal blue chicks and four piglets.

We also took a Aussie puppy home for Kent and Javier! J This puppy is the cutest and smartest pup ever! He had never been on a lead and was walking with us like he knew exactly what he was doing! We decided to call him Smiley because it always looks like he is smiling, sooo cute! Javier and Kent love him too which is great! Apparently both his parents are working dogs too so that is a bonus.

Time to be girly, Aly and I went to the hairdresser! ^^) Aly ended up getting here dyed and highlights J I Got blonde and Red highlights and my hair cut. J

Yesterday we worked our butts off! So far we have done quite a bit of work on the ranch getting it to look a little better. We have worked away a few pounds lol J It really does show from when I first got here, its so cool to see the changes because I can totally say that was something we did! Well, we took down the whole pig pen, Taking the hog panels down was the easy part, moving the horse panels killed us, they are so heavy omw, its like three times my size!

We then took down all the horse stalls and put up a few more using different panels so that we could have our round pen panels back to work Spice. J We are half way done with the stalls and need to finish the round pen today. In for busy day today too.

Tragic happenings, and happy (half) endings.

26 July 2012 – 

Last night was not too great at about 3am we are woken up by these hysterical chicken shrieks, the mother hen with her 12 chicks decided to stay outside the chicken coop, somehow the cat got to her and in protecting the chicks she started flapping at the cat, she got her wing stuck in the fence and ripped it clean off the bone, its just hanging by the skin. You can see the bone etc. I feel so sorry for this little chicken!

About 20 mins later we hear the pig now squealing, and Cara was after the other pig.... Somehow he got out his pen again, so we locked him up. Thank goodness he got behind the hot tub, otherwise Cara would have gotten him.

We wake up and the chicken is still alive, that was truly a surprise. I spend the whole morning riding G, Getting him to jump slowly and he is really starting to think and do it slowly and properly. Alyson said it looked good! I’m pleased about that, so I took him for a trail ride with good music. J I got back to the ranch and didn’t feel like not riding so Aly and I went on another ride in one of the other fields. J So a happy morning dedicated to the horses!!

We finally herded the right cattle out of the grass and now we have the right cows on the grass -Bones, the skinny dairy cow, Shortie, the hamburger steer, and Greedy Greta, the cow that was still nursing when her mom had another baby. Yay!! After three days of herding!! LOL J

Mother chicken left the chicken coop and was looking really bad, so we ran around catching baby chicks and giving them back to her in the coop. We are thinking about giving the chicks to one of the other hens, but we will wait till she passes cause she should have died and she is still trying to be a mom so we are leaving her!

We went off to Jackson today to fetch Suzie the pig. We butchered her a couple of weeks ago and were just waiting for the different cuts. We brought home Suzie and filled the whole freezer!! LOL, 200 pounds of pork! Hehe, yeah...

BLT’s for dinner yum!!!Yeah, we totally ATE Suzie, gosh I am becoming worse about not being a squeamish person. Then to sort out the other little piggy, Pinky... Put the chickens away, play with Gbbers! J All in all a good day! The chicken is still alive so lets hope she's good.

There are always bits and bobs in between that I can never remember but never a dull moment at the BAR! ^^) Thinking about going to the Prime Rib night at the OC tomorrow J aaaand Beer Pong this weekend!! Hell yeah!! Hehe, this is going to be fun! Moved K – Lines again tonight, the field is getting there. J

I am becoming quite domesticated! ^^) LOL!

Hey guys! So, I could probably run my own house hold presently. J hehe, I’ve got the dishes down, doing the laundry sorted, cleaning the whole house in my pocket and not to mention all the handy man work at the top! J Hehe, aaaand the cooking is still a working progress, I can cook a great meal with some help! Doing my laundry is really easy considering we have a dryer J haha, and none of my clothes at the moment need ironing... So that is not a problem ;) I hate having to fold the washing though, blegh that’s missions! I don’t mind doing the dishes J The cleaning is also pretty easy, it does get irritating though when you cant get something 100percent clean, that bothers me!

Yesterday I spend most of the day herding the cattle and watering the ones in the grass field, the troft was empty every 30 mins or so because it was so hot! I rode G and Red and they both seem to be getting better! <3 I love both these horses soo much its crazy!!! I worked with Frostie and Spice too, they are both really cute, Spice is one good looking Yearling. Frostie has some really great colour going on! ^^) It was seriously hot omw. The one hen’s eggs look like they are dying, so shes pushing them out one by one. It was strange I only collected one egg. Spoke to my gran and gramps yesterday, it is really so great to see them and chat a bit! I miss them loads!! I’m really glad that my gramps is so determined to get his internet, and “facemail’ working! HEHE< he got Skype to work, very impressed Love yoyu both soo much! I also had a quick chat with Tay and she would not stop mocking me for my accent... Haha, Tay I still love you!

This morning when I woke up to feed etc. it was very dark, almost looked overcast. Anyway, Alyson was on call today so we spend the morning outside, separating cattle etc. We then decided to make omelettes, hell yeah got it right! :D lol!! We cleaned the whole house making it all bright and shiny! (Except the cupboards with the not so shiny stuff hiding behind it) Hehe! We also painted the cealing in the kitchen and the entrance hall. It was the funniest thing, I was a little to tall to stand on the counter tops and paint so I ended up painting the top of my head a couple of times! LOL, got paint on my jeans and all over my arms and face.... Not a drop on the dressers, cupboards or floor! Legend!! HAHA!

We then started on the Closed off porch, J Cleaning everything out and moving things around, clearing the dust and getting rid of the crap. We did that till Russ got home and now we just started on dinner, so will finish that tomorrow.

I was soo tired today for some reason... Meh... Have no clue why... ^^)

Anywho, Still loving it here! Its my birthday next Friday and we don’t know what to do, any suggestions?? Maybe Universal Studios??? Sounds like it might be a plan!! ^^)

Tazzy!!

Lobster Mac and Cheese, Hot Wings, Olives and Mushrooms, Chilli Peppers, Hot Salsa, and Pasta!!

So since I have been here Alyson and Russ have challenged me almost every time we have eaten! LOL, so being a brave person, I decided to grow some man balls and try it!! The first thing was Javier’s Mac and Cheese, which incidentally had Lobster in it, yip I ate it. The whole dish together was really great actually! J

The next thing that Aly challenged me with was Spaghetti, this one was not too bad. J Not liking pasta I sort of just coped! Next Aly thought it would be a great Idea to feed me a grilled pepper, being fully aware of the fact that I can NOT eat anything spicy(apparently she got a kick out of it). LOL, We were at Lee-aan’s place, omw my mouth burnt for like 20 mins, it hurt to breathe!!! Aly had a piece and her eyes watered, so you can imagine how bad it was for me!!

We go through to the OC one afternoon and Aly starts again... Telling me I’m a sissy, lol. Well my stubborn side came out and hell yeah I ate the Hot Wings!!! I almost cried doing it but, I totally made it through!! ;) With Ice cubes and Soda I survived the experience!! Haha! Alyson now thinks my reaction to spicy food is hilarious, so every opportunity she gets, she bets me that I wont eat the hot stuff. Next was the Salsa.... Now this is not just any salsa, this is Roger’s salsa, with Roger’s home grown peppers, it makes Russ’s and Aly’s eyes water. So yeah I’m a pansy and had a little, Holy Moly!!!! I almost died!!! My mouth was on fire for like a day! haha, nope can’t handle the spice!!

We go off to Mikes Pizza Parlour and order a 2 in 1 for all of us to share, meat lovers, hell yeah that was yummy as hell, and a bbq chicken. So on a bbq chicken pizza there happens to be Mushrooms, Olives and then the normal, tomatoes, cheese, sauce, chicken, onions etc. But the part I’m worried about are the olives(worse than mushrooms) and the mushrooms(slightly less gross than the olives). Well, as usual they start with their trash talk, haha.... And I totally did put it in my mouth, chew and swallow!!! Yeah!!

I won’t say that I do eat mushrooms, Olives or Lobster now but I now have a real reason why I don’t!! Russ wants to try get me to eat peas, thats never gonna happen, like ever!! LOL!

Hehe, open to proving why I don’t eat certain things!!

Had a busy weekend! Jumping, The Lake and Great company!

Thursday I fixed up a bunch of jumps I can practice jumping G. J I am actually curious to see if Red can jump or not, so I’m going to test that this week. Its actually a perfect spot to jump in the grass field cause it is all flat and mostly soft cause it gets watered all the time!

Friday morning was clear out morning, we needed to clear out the spot where we are building the new barn so we spend the morning taking down the green house and putting all the wood into the ‘Extras’ pile. We took a fence down and now it was time to take out the t-posts, Aly and I get clever and we are going to use the bucket arm on the tractor... The first bunch were hard to get out but we got most of them out the ground. One of the posts had picked its spot and it was refusing to move, at one stage the tractors on wheel was even off the ground, and BAM.... We snap a heavy duty chain, and yes I was in the cross fire, so I have this huge bruise on my shin! Joyous occasions!! LOL. Its all fine now but I couldn’t even feel my foot for the rest of the day.

Great weekend so far though, been crazy busy but great! J Started off by going down to Kent and Javier’s place for a Barbie J lol, They are really lucky, they have an amazing view and a really amazing piece of land, I think they have like 250 Acres. Javier took us for a buggie ride all over, lol that was eventful! Hehe. We then went to Valley Springs and didn’t spend much time there we so we went back to the Ranch! Alyson and Russ are the funniest people ever!! Hehe, and Javier cracks me up with some of the things he says.... Then you get Kent!!! BWAHAHAHAHA!!! He literally kills me! He will sit there and not say a word for the longest time, and when he does you literally want to crack up! So Friday night was a good one!

Saturday started off quite slow, I woke up at the usual time to feed animals etc. So I was a little tired after the previous late night! We then decide that we are going to round up the cattle into the grass field, haha, On. The. Quad!!! LOL... It was the funniest thing, I’m on the quad attempting to walk the cattle slowly but they are all over the place, Chris and Aly are on foot attempting to block the cattle. One of those, “Seriously ” moments, the walk up to the pen was fine, trying to get them in was another story! LOL!! Classic YouTube moment... I bet we looked like a bunch of retards...

Right after looking like tonsils with the cattle we decide to move the pigs... Haha... Well that ended up with a lot of running and going the wrong way, e.v.e.n.t.u.a.l.l.y we got it right. Hehe. We also herded the ducks to their pond. Saturday was like a herd me up day! The hen had her babies!!  She had 12 eggs and all of them hatched! So we have 12 cute little chicken babies running around! Last time she only had a few eggs hatch and only 2 survived, this time round looks really good though! ^^)

Saturday afternoon, off to the Lake(Better than saying ’Reservoir’(Which it is)  in SA known as a ‘Dam’) we go, we went to New Mellones this time cause Tuluc(Real Lake) is always busy and because its small it make the water choppy. Mellones  is huge, the water there was great. LOL, Steve seriously needs to spend more time in the sun he is WHITE, Like you need sunnies!! Hehe. So we went tubing and just hanging in the coves, it was really great fun! Alyson and I decide we are going on the tube together, haha, She ended up punching herself in the face a bunch of times, and I’m like laughing my but off! Then she starts screaming when it gets a bit rough, Her and I laughed so hard, that it was hard to stay on!! Haha, Eventually Russ got what he wanted by getting us off, I literally flew over Aly and ‘skipped’ across the water like a stone!!! Haha, More laughing!!

I decide to go on the tube on my own, now Russ wants to have some fun, but not a chance he was gonna get me off easily!! Hehe, he was eventually whipping the tube left and right over and over to get me off, but I’ve learnt the trick to staying on!! J LOL! He got me off at the most random spot ever, I wanted to kick myself, He does this 360 and I hold it and as he comes out of it he whips the boat the other way, I couldn’t get my weight shifted fast enough and ended up skippin the water again!! I swear this weekend I could have died from laughter!!! HAHA!!! The next time I bailed off the tube was all Chris’s fault, we went for a pretty long time and then he let go, and doing so grabbed me and dragged me down with him... haha, I was not impressed lol, I was about to break the boats tubing record!! Haha!!

So Steve and I have decided that we are writing a bunch of songs to sing at the OC and around here. Steve’s songs are pretty good and he needs a girl to sing a couple of him so we are going to start working on that! J I think it will be really cool if we end up actually finishing and recording them! Our new song though pretty much wrote itself this Saturday on the boat, haha One liners thrown around the whole day being completely hilarious!!

Had such a nice drive back down Rock Creek Road this morning, I love driving down it! It is sooo beautiful!! The view is amazing etc. I just try to ignore the fact that its a one lane road with a 150ft canyon on one side... Hehe, I just pray that there is no traffic when I’m going down or up there! ^^)

We went to the California State Fair today to watch Alejandro do a demo. It was loads of fun, Alley talked me into going on this one ride that swings and rotates at the same time... They were playing great music which made me relax ^^) haha, with my fear of heights, I was singing along to the song, waving my hands around and having a good time, it was quite fun... Aly on the other hand, who had convinced me to go and was completely her idea, did not open her eyes once and held on for dear life!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Yes another laughing attack!! Hehe, so we had a great time at the fair, riding rides, eating, drinking and spending most of our time with the livestock and the horse show was obviously our main event! ^^) hehe.

Gosh, you can’t believe though how hot it was today, even after we left we start driving home with the AC on and its not too bad. We get home, open the doors and Smack!! We get hit with this huge heatwave in the face, like we were in an oven, its was 101 at 6 when we got home and now its still 96 and its 8!! The sun is still even up, looks like its gona go down later tonight! J

Missing everyone stax back home. I wish I could just have a good Skype session with my mom, technology - only a great thing when it works. Aywho, love you all! I really hope all is good at home!!

Been so busy!

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while... I have been so busy, with the horses and the ranch etc. J The bailer is still in the project list, we haven’t gotten that sorted yet. This morning we ordered some new parts for it to see if that will help us getting it going.

Wow, its crazy to think about the amount of stuff I have learnt while I’ve been here. How many people back home can say that they know how to drive two tractors, know all the names of different tools and what they’re for, have sat and operated a 100 year old field rake have taken out the floor of a trailer and on top of that know exactly how a 67 New Holland Bailer works and how to take it apart and back together again.

Then there are all the things I have experienced so far, like Vegas, the Grand Canyon, deathly jumps at the Lake ^^) I am seriously one lucky girl to be in such an amazing place and having such a great time!

I jumped G for the first time, omw HE IS AMAZING!! He clears every fence with at least two inches to spare! I spend the whole day yesterday lugging logs, tires and barrels from the big field so that I could make some jumps in the hay field. That took me most of the day, so I have about seven or so jumps up J There is still a bunch of stuff that I brought down that I haven’t used yet, so I can make some more jumps J Can’t wait to jump all of themtoday!! ^^)

Busy Busy Busy, all the time! I am still having a great time here, working my but off! Sorting plans for the new barn, so exciting J Yip, I pretty much think that’s it... J

I think engineering might be my new calling!!

Its pretty windy and quite nippy out tonight, I forgot to feed the pigs so had to run out there quickly and do that! It takes a while for your eyes to adjust, lol almost bailed in the dark a couple of times... The funniest was trying to find the pigs feed bucket! Hehe.

The whole day today was spent on the bailer again.... OMW, we have the bailer moving, picking up grass and pooping it back out again. . . No string, No knots and No bails... -.- We have taken the bailer apart over three times, moved and adjusted pretty much everything possible. The knitters are in time with the plunger, which is in time with the fly wheel, which is in time with the needles... And still NO BAILS!!! Gosh, we have broken string, had it all stuck and knotted in the knotters. We have broken chains, I busted up my pinky, Aly broke her Index finger, we have had grease everywhere, we still have bruises everywhere and today.... The bailer decides to, snap both needles off, smack bang in the middle.... Like the point where you look up at the heavens and scream “COME ON!!” Anyway, so back to the drawing board with the bailer. I think by the time I go home I may know more about tools and equipment than Ian! LOL! 

We went up to the OC again today and I totally rocked hot wings... hehe, I may have 10 more hairs on my chest and a num tongue, but I ate them!! LOL. Kelly was there with her grandson Noah, the cutest little boy anyone has ever seen! Blonde little blue eyed boy! CUTE!

Pretty much a normal day at the ranch today! Oh, I did two loads of washing today because I keep forgetting to do it, hehe, yeah I’m becoming pretty domesticated! HAHA, whatever... ;)

When we got home all the goats were out, so I had to go herd them back in and fix the fence! hehe, Goatses!! ^^) I spend some time with G too, Such an amazing horse! Soo pretty! It is such a trip to watch the sun coming down, and just being able to look across the field and see the cattle and horses with the sun and the hills behind them! I am so lucky to be here!! 

I have to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my Brandon today!(17^th in SA) I hope you have an amazing day babe!! xxx

Go Giants!! San Francisco today for the Giants VS Astros!! ^^)

As usual we started the day with the normal farm stuff, surprisingly today the chickens had laid no eggs??? Hmm... Confusing one, anywho J then it was off to the freaking bailer again to fiddle around and see if we can get it going... Annnnd, nope. I went off to get the mares from across the road and help them back under the bridge so they could get water, lol they got across but couldn’t get back. Silly things J. I collected some of the bailing grass for Red cause he still can’t go with G or be by the fence with by the mares cause he thinks he has still got it ;) hahah!

We moved some of the k-lines around this morning to water in different sections and then Steve and Karen arrived, Steve is Aly’s brother. So we were waaay excited to go into San Francisco today. The drive in was really beautiful, we came in on Bay Bridge today and SF is really gorgeous!! It was only 68 in SF, a lot cooler than at the ranch! ^^)

We get to the AT&T Park and there are so many people lol, it was crazy, they had (I think) 42,300 people today a sell out!! J Was so awesome! The vibe there was amazing, I honestly can say I like baseball now. The Giants won, of course! It was so close now, We were scared at one point, but they pulled through! J The score was 2-3 to SF Giants... LOL, now you can see how both teams are great with like hardly any runs! We didn’t get to see a homerun though, but I really don’t think this will be my last ball game!

We got cool Orange Giants Sweatshirts! Oh yeah, lol they are my team :P! The trip back home seemed longer, but I guess it is because on the way there you are excited about going somewhere... It was a really great day though! Something I loved being at. We sat right between home base and first, great seats!! ^^)

We came home, and as usual the work on the ranch is never done! Hehe, So we took apart the k-line and moved it put it back together again. We also collected more grass for Red and put G back at the top J

13th and the 14th - So far a great weekend! ^^)

Friday the 13^th! What a day!

LOL, so my Friday was a great one, we messed around with the bailer all morning, were covered in grease again. ^^) We did make progress though J Got the bailer turning on the P.T.O, and then... the chain snapped and after that it went downhill, the safety bolts just kept snapping one after another. Got my finger caught in between the roller and the bailer and it hurts like a *****! Its like strange colours though, tehee...

 At about 2 I got a call from Chris, he wanted to meet at the lake and go out on the boat. We decide to go and off to the lake we go! Okay pit stop at the OC, ^^) hehe, Bacon Cheese Burgers and drinks. Then off to the Lake we went, stopped at the bar and had long conversations with our bar tender while we waited for Kurt and Chris to come grab us J. Then we got on the boat and went to the cove party area on the lake and swam and chatted etc. J LOL, I got chucked in a couple of times... Oh yeah, we went tubing, hahaha! I think I was not fit enough for the tubing part... hahaha, I bailed for absolutely no reason about 3 times!!

We left there and went back to the ranch and I get another call from Chris saying that he still wants to hang out at his parents place, so we go up to Copperopolis with them to his parents house, and omw, it is beautiful!! This house is pretty amazing!! J Its on a golf course which is pretty too. We all played pool ;) The stars are so pretty out there, you can literally see them all.

We decide that we are going to drive around the estate in their golf cart, its now pretty cold and the sprinklers are on so here are Chris and I soaking wet and now all ice cold on the cart.... I think its hot tub time!! Hehe, yeah its now about 2:30 in the morning and we all go back to Chris’s house to crash for like 2 hours, then wake up freaking early to come back to the ranch... LOL, we woke up at 5 to come home so I could leave on time for the ball game....

LOL, which turns out to be tomorrow!!! LOL, sometimes I wonder how Aly and I make it througha day! Hehe. So now I get home and meet Aly in the lounge and she just chuckles at me, “did you just get in?” Me : “yeah”  BWAHAHA from Aly and my side!! OMW, this is the part where the night starts catching up and omw did I feel bad. So here I am feeling like ass burgers and I need to do the usual farm mornings... Luckily feeding the creatures etc. helped me with the nausea a bit... LOL, “I’m never drinking again” --- “Until next weekend”. ;) hehe

We spend the morning on the bailer again, even though I felt soo bad. LOL, I’m a tough cookie. We have the bailer running but, there are a few weeks that need to be sorted. It is not knotting the bailing string which is kind of irritating and we have the timing and everything right. We have taken it apart more than 3 times... I can honestly say I have had more experience with farm tools and equipment than everyone back home... ^^) LOL, I’ve started driving the Kuboa Tractor whilst towing the bailer and working the P.T.O Drive J Yip, totally a farm girl!!

We worked till dark tonight, it was so pretty out, nice sunset etc. J It is so perfect, the horses silhouette’s and the mountains and the sun fading behind them! I honestly love it here! I am loving every moment here and every experience! Aly and I were too lazy to turn the gusher off today so we decided to move the k-line while the sprinklers were still running... LOL! Bad idea! We were soaking wet, like dripping when we went back in the house, but it was really so much fun to just be stupid like that and trying not to get wet even though the line was attached to the back of the quad...

We are going to the Giants game tomorrow, first base seats! I can’t wait!! OH EM GEE! Hehehe! Anyway, still kinda tired from last night and not entirely recovered. I hope you guys are still enjoying these posts and what I have to tell... Still open to any pointers or suggestions that you would like to hear about or anything you think I should change! J

Finished!!

So I totally destroyed the crap out of the trailer... Hehe, okay not really but, I did take the whole floor out! It was so hot today that half way through the sweat was dripping off of me. When I was done, my shirt and jeans were soaked, lol and well I was almost drowning myself. Tehee, I had to have a cold shower to cool down and get all the dirt off!!  Yeah, a pretty productive day!!

So I had a great ride on both G and Red today, rode them for about an hour each. J Did all the normal morning stuff like feeding etc.  I’m having a break because the sun will kill you, seriously I am gonna melt! Hehe! Yeah, Red seems to be getting better and I’m learning what G likes and doesn’t. I am still having an absolute ball!

Since I’ve been here I have been through at least 30 little towns, we went through on last night that was soo cute, omw. Like serious old looking town, totally unique. Aly told me that Oakdale is the Cowboy Capital of the USA, Apparently there was a Challenge where the boys from Texas wanted to challenge the boys from Oakdale... Oakdale won, thus making them the true Cowboy Capital! All the champion reiners, ropers, barrel racers etc. all come from Oakdale! So, I bought my boots in the Cowboy Capital of the USA, Oakdale!! J Pretty neat! Hehe.

I’ve seen so much of the USA since I’ve been here, yet so little at the same time! I mean I’ve seen three national parks(The Grand Canyon, Yosemite and Death Valley), Las Vegas, Phoenix, Fountain Hills, Case Grande, Sedona,  and like billions between!! Its crazy to think I have only seen 3 out of the 52(I think). Lol, Anyway, having a really great time here with everyone!

Just finished speaking to my mom and had a long conversation with Ian J Miss everyone, but I honestly would rather be no place other than here! I am really so grateful that Alley would have me!! <3  hehe. Had a chat with Brands too, hope you have a great night out with your crazy amazing family! I love you all... Miss you Tay, lol Next time we can chat when you’re not so occupied with Tia, love you both lil sis’s! J I think I was born to be a cowgirl... J

Oh yeah, I’ve lost 5 ½  pounds since I’ve been here! Sore!! Hehe!! Hope everyone back home has a good sleep! I need to go back to work, taking the panels out of that trailer!!

Grease monkeys!

So Alley and I are official grease monkeys, we have been trying to fix this freaking bailer for a couple of days now, going to tractor shops etc. Lol, the tractor guys being extremely impressed with our knowledge and determination of trying to make this work!!  We have still not fixed it yet, we spend the whole morning fiddling, taking apart and fixing the knotting and cutting part of the bailer. We snapped a chain too. *FacePalm* At least it is now secure to the smaller tractor. So we can move it etc.

I got to speak to Brands and his family a couple of days ago, I spoke to Dil, Angie and even Auntie Trish, lol. I met Leon’s ass and then his abs before seeing his face,LOL, Leon is Angie’s boyfriend. It was awesome to chat to my other family again! <3

Via was eating another chicken and got her ass thrown in the kennel. We are beginning to think that the chicken Hawks are grabbing them and they are dropping them because they are too heavy for them, and Via thinks this is a great opportunity to grab some. Red was gelded 2 months ago and he still thinks he is a stallion! We tried to put him in the grass field next to the mares and Happy, batting her eyes and prancing around gave him a woody and made him act like a complete tosser! LOL, so he’s moved back up to the top.

I’m trying to add like the last 2 days together and can’t remember most of it!! Hahaha, fail! It has been super hot her though! Holy ball! Like 109 degrees! 110 is my melting temperature! Thank the man who invented A/C!!

So we drove all the way to Alejandro today J Its like a 2 hour drive of windy roads! We loaded all these panels and then we decided to go out on the boat there by Ale’s place! J So we go out and the water was soo warm! It was amazing! I met a bunch of new people. Everyone was wakeboarding, knee boarding and wake skating. It was quite great! We ended up leaving the lake only at 8:30, after helping this tosser out of the mud, idiot got himself stuck because he didn’t want to go all the way to the boat ramp...

We eventually leave Ale’s at 10... Get home Just before Midnight... LOL, We are lucky Russ loves us soo much otherwise we would have been in trouble! Anywho... Tired as hell, omw and I started peeling on my shoulders! Meh...

When I can think straight I will maybe write a proper post with detail... Gosh, too tired to think!

Seriously, IN MY PANTS!

09 July 2012 

So today was sooooo freaking hot! OMW!! All normal farm stuff got done J We let the piggies down to the pond, it was the cutest thing when they ran down to the mud and water!! J HAHA, Via was eating a chicken today, we think one of the chicken hawks killed it and then dropped it. So V got locked up and when I got back to the dead chicken... The chickens were eating the chicken!!! LOL.

 The big tractor’s hitch was bent so we took it to Roger to get straightened. That’s gonna take a while so we decided to use the smaller tractor. The tractor has the correct hitch and everything, so we are styling!! We were in the sun fixing the bailer to attach it to the tractor and Aly and I practically took the back of the tractor apart trying to take the mower off, we get that off and move the tractor to the bailer, Yeah now it decides its not gna fit... The hitch is not long enough. I being the smarty pants I am moved the arm on the hitch got it further out and tightened it all sorted... And meh! Not long enough still!! GAWSH...... And the sun was cooking me today, headache from hell! I won’t be surprised by tonight if I look like a piece of bacon!

Javier arrived and bought us some cheese cake! Yum. We then went into town to get feed and soda. We went to this grocery outlet where like all the wrong shipments and carriers end up and stuff like that. We got this one case of sodas that you can mix and match all the different soda you want and it was only $5!! Pretty sweet deal! We then went to another  feed place and I got a pair of boots!! :D :D Finally!! Hehe, I got a pair of tan Ariats, they are really nice boots! I’m so happy to not be having sore feet anymore! Lol.  So I achieved something that I really wanted too J

Gosh it is still so hot right now!! So ALy and I decided we would move the little boat out of the pond up to the house, somehow ANOTHER yellow jacket got up my pants and I didn’t notice. So I go to the lav and when I’m pulling my pants back up I feel this huge sting! So I undo and rip my pants down and there is another freaking wasp! It stung the crap outa my thigh, haha, this one is worse though, its red, swollen and a little icky... bleh! I put him permanently sleep, now in the trash!

Got a suuuper headache it sucks...

Broken Arrow Ranch!

I am like the happiest person on earth staying here! It is simply amazing. So today we started off by waking up late, :D haha, we had a ‘slow’ morning. Aly and I spent most of the morning chatting on calls to our loved ones and making plans J Russ was outside, doing... uh... stuff! LOL.

We then decided that we would use one of the old windrows(100yr old) to rake the grass fields, the hand raking was taking waaay too long and it was killing my back! So we put oil in a few nuts and bolts etc. J To see how we could make it work... We figured that the person sitting on the top would have to pull and push to get the grass up and down on and off the windrow. LOL, so guess who spend the rest of the day up there... :P Yours sincerely!! Omw, the chair was wonky, and i had to kick it most of the time to work, but it was great great fun!!! J tehee  Aly and I got a little sunburnt but we were havi ng a ball and guess what! We got the field raked! We replaced the horse for a quad though, seemed faster! tehee. We are farmers and proud of it!! 

The bailer is all strung up now, so all we have to do now is see how badly we can get it all tangled up! J hehehe!!! So now its movie time!! Chill session! ^^)

There is this little black kitten that lives under the portch, she has started bocoming more tame, the other day she scratched the crap outa me, butwe are feeding it and it seems to be getting better! J

06 July 2012 – Everything happens in three’s

So today was eventful, we started by clipping Gemma. She is a cute looking poodle now! J hehe. Then off to do the usual feeding the pigs, moving the horses, collecting the eggs. The funniest thing happened when I put my hand into the one nest to grab eggs the one hen pecked me, so I hushed her out of the nest, I carried on collecting eggs and I grabbed one that was freaking hot, like seriously warm. The hen had pecked me because she was laying the egg! LOL, so this egg puts a new meaning to fresh! Hehe!

We finished the field today and George came around to help us figure out how the bailer works, we threaded the string so far now we have to see how the rest goes! I put red in the grass field today and he still thinks he is a stallion, Happy wouldn’t leave him alone, she kept teasing him by the fence and well, he thought he could still do the dandy...

I worked Breezey today, its the second time she has ever been ridden and she is so clever, I got her to walk up the hill and back down. I need to work on steering though, and get her to move off the leg. I also worked G again today and as always he is super duper J hehe.  I’m just busy learning how to ride him the way Aly wants me to and get everything out of him!

So I got bitten by a wasp today, yes bitten, not stung, because it was a yellow jacket. It hurt like hell! Hopefully my bad luck is over now! First the snake, then the spider and now the wasp! So its all done and dusted!! ^^) For now atleast!!

Then we went to The OC... ^^) Bwahahaha! What a blast!! Made some new friends J Kelly, Chris and a Swedish woman, sorry I can’t remember your name!! J LOL, but it was a really great night! Pool, great music and eghem... all the rest ;) Its pretty cool to chill with Aly and Russ because they love Rock and metal as much as I do!! YAY!! So we party hardcore!! OMW!! Hahaha!!

07 July 2012 – Busy Busy Busy

Today started badly and ended pretty well, J . We started cleaning out the trailer, okay now when I say trailer  - Caravan/Horse box, complete with microwave, oven, stove, fridge, dining area, bedroom, bathroom, tv, and more space and cupboards than you know what to do with, four birth box, stallion pen, tackroom, hay shoot...... Yip, this IS a horsebox I’m talking about!!!! Pretty amazing right... J So we cleaned the whole thing, you have no idea how much stuff was in there, pretty much the contents of a whole house and you would have never known it because it Was all put away so nicely in its own happy place. Anyway, we cleaned it because people were supposed to come look at it to buy it,,,,,, the tossers never showed so all the work, blegh.... Then we just did things around the ranch. We tacked G and Red up to moved those stupid cattle that won’t go under the bridge, never mind they are going to die on that side with no water, they won’t go under a stupid little bridge. So we herded them through the road gates and they went in pretty easily. Red is getting so much better! He is listening and he is now very relaxed... J Happy days. We took them for a small ride out, omw, the view – BEAUTIFUL, it was soo “picturesque” The wind is blowing the golden grass and its me in my safe place on red just loaping through a field.... It looks like I can go on forever.

I really love it here...

Oh yeah.... I finally saw the Avengers!!!! OMW!!!!!!!!! I loved it!!! Hehe, it was freaking hilarious! Movie houses here are nothing like the ones back home... You can get curly fries, chicken strips, hot giant soft pretzels, and even hotdogs... Oh and get this if you order a large popcorn or a large soda, you can get refills.... Free refills!!! Crazy hey!! Hehehe!! The large cup is like seriously huge already... *facepalm*

Not ever a dull moment at the BAR --> Broken Arrow Ranch

05 July

So today was my first day alone at the ranch! ^^) LOL, well that doesn’t mean I get to sit around and do nothing!! Hehe, Aly said to me that I should just relax today, but there is just too much that she needs to get done here and I want to help as much as I can!!

Wake up with Gemma in her usual spot on my pillow, hehe, she’s adopted me! :P I decided that I don’t want to add sunburn to my sunburn so I put on my long checked shirt so I wouldn’t be more sore! I got pretty burnt yesterday morning when riding G, so made sure I didn’t get burned today!

So I fed the horses and then moved G to the grass field so he can eat the nice grass, tomorrow I’ll put Red there so he can chow too! J I had to move one of the trofts to the bottom field, omw its faAar! Well, this experience was scary and funny at the same time. So I moved the  troft from where it was and there goes a freaking Rattle Snake!!! Holy crap I shat myself, so he held me hostage for about 20 minutes because he was infront of the stable gate and I had no weapons... So eventually I am set free and it crawls under some logs, we later took a shovel and cut it in half an the front end of the body still tried to attack, it was so freaky, so we got the head too. So then I start cleaning the thing and I’m scrubbing away and a HUGE Black Widow spider starts casually crawling up my arm!!! Like holy crap!! Today was obviously not my day!

So I sorted the troft and water for G in the bottom camp, but it was sooo difficult hauling that thing there and then opening valves etc. I’m just glad its done! I raked a section of the field today, omw that was tiring!! Haha. Then I decided that I would try catch mouse. That little pony is so darn clever you cant fool her... So that never happened.

Then I decided to tack up Red. Worked him inside for a while and then took him into the mares camp, he was sooo good! He surprised me so much because it was the first time he had been with mares since he was gelded... He is really such a nice horse and I really hope Aly keeps letting me work him! We went for ages!! I discovered that he is afraid of water , and birds, and trees and different colours of grass... LOL, so we will have to work on that. He is a lot more relaxed now though!

The rest of the day I just did the small ranch stuff that needed to get done! So all in all a good day as usual. Chatting to my Boyfriend always puts a smile on my face. He will go out of his way to make sure he can chat to me it is so sweet! Lol and its his birthday in a couple of days, so he’s getting old. Tehee I love teasing him! I wish my mom would get a mic so I could chat to her! I miss her and Tay a lot!! OMW, even though we used to fight a lot, I miss their voices! Anyway, I’m defiantly turning into a ranch girl!

One Productive Independence Day!

So today was really productive... I woke up fed the horses then went to work on G and Red.  I warmed up G first and then took him to the field for a ride. On the way I fixed up all the old jumps Nats had set up in the top of the field then carried on with the ride. Now when Aly says to take G for a gallop I’m like woohoo! So I get to the top of the fence and I’m jogging along the fence line and I’m about to ask him for the loap, he reads my mind and boy he’s gone!! Getting faster and faster... Daym this little morgan horse is fast!!! Like you have no idea, I think my eyes were watering in the first twenty seconds!! So I had a really amazing ride on G today and then was off to ride Red.

Red, omw, I love this horse, he is a liver chestnut, yes this is me so of course it’s a chestnut. I spoke about Bree riding Red earlier, and he was skittish and had his head way up with her. So I just wanted to keep him as relaxed as possible, he likes when you use your voice, so I took advantage of that. I worked him a little in his small pen, he had his head low and was relaxed on a short rein and then I took him out to the grass field. Aly showed me how she wanted me to work on his backing up and his spins, I worked him for about two hours and he started getting there, he was a lot better by the end of the ride. It is so amazing how my ‘arena’ is pretty much oat grass fields that go on forever and ever! ^^) ! Aly got a third of the grass field mowed today which is pretty cool. We are getting there! J  Tomorrow I have to see if I can figure out how to thread the string for the bailer!! Eeep, going to try bail our own grass for the first time!

It is really so pretty here at the Ranch!! I am definitely starting to fall inlove!

So its independence day today and we went to the lake at about three. So I’m starting to become this real brave sausage, and I think I might have bigger and tougher balls than some men out there!! I am absolutely terrified of heights, but about three weeks ago I climbed the Highest Indoor Climbing Wall in the World!! So I think I deserve a pat on the back for that one. BUT Today, I decided that I would attempt to not be a pansy and would jump off a rock into the lake... Yeah, me! Anyway Aly and I climb the rock face and get to the top of this one rock, I convinced her to jump with me and its like – 1 – 2 – 3 – JUMP, and we hit the water after falling 3 metres  down. So now I decide I’m going to put my big girl panties on and get higher! Well, I got to the top, and its a looooong way down from there. I give myself the” you can do it” speech, and I don’t convince myself I’ll be fine for like the next  15 minutes... OMW, was it high. So eventually I have boats and hoards of people stopped because they want to see me jump off this monster of a rock, they are cheering and screaming. So I took this as my opportunity to just do it! And heck I counted to three and freaking jumped off a 6.5 metre rock into the lake!!! ^^) So I am really proud of myself at the moment! I’m still not over my fear of heights, but I can now rock climb like a demon!!! J  It was fun to play on the boat and swim in the lake, the water is soo good! We left the Lake at about seven thirty, yip with the sun still shining!! J

Across three States in my first week!! ^^)

California, Arizona and Nevada!!

Once we had left Las Vegas it was a very long drive through the desert, just sand and shrubs! We went through Death Valley... Yip the name says it all, Death Valley is famous for being the hottest, the lowest and the driest location in the USA. Its pretty awesome there with the canyon and mountain bits, also as you get into the valley its like a huge beach sand pit! The temperature can reach a high of 150f, its crazy! On the way through we noticed a bunch of people who got stuck on one of the drive off platforms, so here we go in the Dooley to tow them out. Aly and I on the ground getting dirty in the desert!

The Desert slowly became mountains, and the mountains filled with tree’s! It became more and more beautiful! We went through the Yosemite National Park, it was sooo beautiful! Lol, I know I say that a lot but there are really not words great enough to describe it!!! There was still snow on the mountains, and the natural lakes are amazing!!  We stopped at this one Lake and Aly and I went rock climbing to go touch the water, it was warmer than expected and so crystal clear. It is actually quite funny how you can watch the temperature decrease as you get higher and increase again as you get lower. We stopped again and this time there was some hectic rock climbing to get to a huge rock!

This was such and awesome road trip! I’m going to put more pics up on facebook later! J I’ve only been here a week and I’ve travelled through 3 different States and like over 50 little towns! I love it here in the US and tomorrow we start fixing things here at home. Loads and Loads to do!

Grand Canyon and Las Vegas on the way home!

The drive down to the Grand Canyon was amazing! Wow, we went through Sedona and that is a site to see! Its amazing how you drive through desert then the next minute you’re driving though red rock! We stopped there for a walk around all the little shops and stuff. It was still quite hot, but way better than Phoenix and Fountain Hills.

We got back on the road and the red rock then turns into forest and hills, now that was extremely pretty! Ponderosa Time, Cotton Wood and Sycamore trees everywhere! I liked it there because it was now starting to cool down which was great, it was also a little overcast which made it nicer to be outside.

 We stopped at Wendy’s, which is a burger bar in Flagstaf, Alley and I got this baconaitor burger and Russ a chicken. Our burgers were HUGE, No garnish at all, it went roll-cheese-bacon-patty-cheese-bacon-patty-roll with a few sauces between... That was like a serious monster and the patty’s are square and beeeg!! I was so stuffed I got tired! Lol. Russ also order Chili, now I was rather confused when he did, because back in SA Chilli is Chilli Peppers, burn the crap out of your mouth and you put them in food, sauces, jam etc. I was really asking myself why the hell would someone want to eat a whole tub of Chilli, who does that to themselves?? Anyway I soon discovered that Chili(not Chilli) was made when the settlers were still travelling. They would not be able to carry certain food goods so what they would take meat along. The meat would get extremely tough so they would put it in the wagon that had the cooker in it and they would cook it until it would break down and they would add spices and things too it. Over time they added beans to it and chilli powder, the dry beans would be fine for the trip and that’s why they took them. Thus, creating Chili.... Something we don’t get in SA!

Eventually, Forest turns into Platue and this is when we went past Bedrock City, where the Flinstones live! That was cool, they had the houses and volcano and even the Dino that Fred slides down! ^^)

Then you start driving through forest again, Natural forest this time, it is sooo pretty and the weather just keeps getting better! Its amazing!  Keep going and you arrive at The Grand Canyon Entrance into the park!! OMW!!! You walk up to the Canyon, and well it took my breath away!! It goes on and on, as far as your eye can see! It is gorgeous! Over a mile down there! You get a glimpse of the Colorado River, which is tiny... When in actual fact it is a huge river!! Alyson and I walked about 6km(attempting to add and not miss signs) Along the Canyon! It is so beautiful! I know I keep saying it, but you really can’t take it all in by just seeing a picture! You feel so small up there. The different rocks are unbelievably pretty, with all the different colours for each belt.

Then off to Las Vegas we go... ^^)  and... OMG!!!!! It was so pretty! We got there just before Midnight and the streets were still packed! I must say it is a lot prettier at night with all the lights. We stayed at the Luxor which is a huge pyramid! Everything was Egyptian decor and really well done! There were huge statues all over the place, all to do with the pyramids and hieroglyphics etc. It was truly amazing!! The place is so huge you can get lost in it!

We then got all dressed up to go out, we first went to the Excalibur, It is this Huge Castle. Inside everything is huge with the castle theme. Then we went off to New York New York! Now that was a pretty cool building, The outside had the New York Skyline, built almost full size, with The statue of Liberty on the one corner, and The  Brooklyn Bridge on the other. On the inside it is made to look like you’re walking in New York, Similar to Monte Casino in SA, but it has less detail than Monte Casino. New York New York has this huge rollercoaster on the top of it! It is the coolest, lol yeah me and my roller coaster fetish, There is also a Coyote Ugly, it looks exactly like the one in the movie!!

Treasure Island is amazing, it looks like a huge jungle, side of the mountain with waterfalls. There is a Grand Canyon Hotel too, its a huge rock! Frogy’s is another pretty one, waterfalls and trees, rock walls and a huge ship on the side. The Trump Tower is this huge gold windowed building. I think all the buildings in Vegas are so amazing!! I’ve missed out on like a whole bunch of really gorgeous places! I just don’t know which one to start with because they are really so awesome!

Oh yeah, there is a MnM world!!! Yeah, I know AWEsome!!!! OMW, I’m such a freak... haha! So we spent the ‘morning’ wondering around Vegas having a great time at all the different places! Went to bed at 4am and woke up all bright and shiny at 8am! Had my first Starbucks Caramel Frapachino J.  Then we were on our way back home!

So, Yesterday was really good. Alley and I went for a power walk around the Lake and got smoothies. We went back to the hotel room forgetting that we wanted to see the Fountain go off. So when it hit 9, Alley and I RAN the whole way to the fountain. There are photo’s on my Facebook if you want to have a look! Its this Huge Fountain, its got a world record. ^^)  There was this Huge horse made out of scrap, like real scap, its awesome!! J

 We went to Kate’s parents house for breakfast, it was the biggest breakfast I have ever had, lol. Then we had a swim and Mija is like my new best friend... Her favourite sentence is “Play More!” She is a crazy lil hooligan! She reminds me of my mom! With her craziness and she doesn’t care, she just does and is not scared of a thing. She calls Russ and Alley “Ganpa and Ganma” Its is the cutest thing. When we said goodbye to them she cried cause she wanted to go to with Ganma.

Then we went to Casa Grande, we saw the Case Grande ruins. Case Grande means Grand House, Its because it was a huge house for the Indians at that time. We had a bit of a party at one of Alley’s friends house, It was great fun. OMW its so hot though! Lee-ann had the misters on and literally every 5 minutes I was going to stand under them to drench myself! We got back to the hotel at midnight and I was so tired! Lol, I was KO!

We are leaving Fountain falls this morning, We are going to travel back Past the Grand Canyon, then Vegas and then we are heading back home! The weather forecast for the Canyon today suggests not going up there, but we are going to brave the heat! I’m not missing seeing that! Then off to Vegas!! Yeah baby!!
